2015 Goals | Personal & Professional

December 31, 2014  •  Leave a Comment

I have BIG plans for 2015, some of which are already in motion, others that are still floating around in this crazy head of mine, but will definitely come to fruition because I am one determined lady!  Starting the year as a full-time photographer alone is a HUGE accomplishment for me!  Now it’s time to make sure this year is successful and rewarding from a professional and personal perspective, but first, a BIG HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF MY 2014 CLIENTS!  You have made this year a huge success for me and have given me the confidence to pursue my dream! Thank you for letting experience many firsts - first maternity session, first Fresh 48 session, first wedding, first newborn - it's been phenomenal and I cannot wait to see what 2015 holds for me!

2015 Photography Goals

  • Rebrand my business complete with a new label design and new website! This is already in motion, so stay tuned for some updates!
  • Upgrade my camera…again
  • Invest in a couple new lenses.  I really want another prime and a macro lens.
  • Triple my number of newborn sessions!  It’s ambitious, but I think it’s realistic!  I have 4 sessions booked so far.  In 2014, I had the pleasure of photographing 12 precious babies {Kenndey, Aiden, EmmaKate, Noah, Emma Lovisa, Andee Jo, Alistair Charles, Madeline Lorraine, Stone, Tessa, Raylighn Noreen, and Luke}
  • Photograph 4 weddings!  So far I have two booked and I am so excited about them!  Thank you Tara and Leia!
  • Second shoot 5-10 weddings!
  • Get to 1,000 likes on my Facebook page
  • Hold Mini Sessions that are not Fall or Christmas themed.  I have a couple of ideas that I am super excited about, but I am not quite ready to share them.  Let’s just say if you love your babies and you love your fur babies, you’ll be happy!
  • Restructure my session pricing structure to offer “package” options with “add-ons”
  • Get PUBLISHED!!  I have been hesitant to submit sessions, but I’m throwing caution to the wind and submitting away!
  • Give back to the community.  I have something very special to my heart in the works, but I can't share quite yet.  Last year I volunteered as a photographer for Military Mini Photo sessions for families with deployed loved ones during the holidays.  This year I want to do that along with a bit more volunteering with children in particular.

Education is extremely important to me.  There is always more to learn and I absolutely LOVE to learn.  I could literally be a student for life…I know I’m a total nerd!

  • Complete an 18-credit online photography course that I purchased.
  • Read three photography books
  • Watch videos and read blogs to improve my workflow
  • Focus on editing and portfolio presentation

Networking is extremely vital in this business.

  • Attend a mentoring session or two or three...but definitely one and I have a photographer in mind!
  • Mentor newer photographers – If you are interested in a mentoring session with me in the future or want to assist during a newborn session, please do not hesitate to contact me!  I love networking!
  • Meet up with photographers at least once a quarter for some social time, new head shots, and coffee!!

2015 Personal Goals

  • Read 14 books!  I love to read, but I go through spurts and I really want to make sure that I read on a consistent basis and not just “popular” books, but historical, religious and political books as well.  I am open to suggestions!
  • Land a college level teaching position as an adjunct professor.
  • Get my dance on again!  I used to ballroom dance 2-4 times per week and since August I haven’t even put my shoes on.  It’s sad.  I need dance in my life.  It’s in writing. I’m coming back Arthur Murray family!
  • Drink more water.  It sounds silly, but I am horrible at drinking enough water and my body hates me for it.
  • Do more yoga.  It keeps me balanced, calm, fit, and improves my circulation (which I need badly because I am always freezing).
  • Be confident and daring!

May 2015 be your best year yet!!

Much love,

Sarah | Sarah Nolan Photography
